Update!

I generally update more often on my Facebook Page, but I figure an update on my website is pertinent. Hopefully I’ll start making videos for my author YouTube channel, and updates can go there! 😅

I had planned to begin making video essays for my Film Queery YouTube channel starting in July because one of my professors told me that the ones I did for class were brilliant – I figured I should give it a shot. However, it turned out that there were a bunch of writing courses available for the Fall semester. So, I decided to take 5, as opposed to my usual 3. As such, I decided to not get started on video essays when I know that I won’t be able to put much time into working on them from September to December. I will be pushing those back until the beginning of 2023 – though I am actually working on scripts for them, so I should have a lot of the work done by January, so I’ll be ready to go.

What I’m working on right now:

Right now I’m preparing for the fall semester by planning a bunch of what I’ll be writing. I know that I’ll have at least 7 short stories to write, as well as a longer fiction project (7000-10000 words), and 4 creative nonfiction pieces to write. All that on top of basic week to week stuff, such as workshopping other students stories. All of this would be quite literally impossible to complete from scratch in one semester, so I’m trying to get a bunch of planning done so I don’t have a mental breakdown. That does mean that by the end of the year I will have a lot of stories I can post online. I may submit some of them to websites and magazines and whatnot, some I might post directly onto my website, here. Time will tell.

Additionally, I got started on outlining, and testing some prose for my middle grade queer horror fiction series – “If a house party with R.L. Stine, Lemony Snicket, and Rick Riordan was crashed by a queer Stephen King?” How’s that sound? I was inspired to do it one day, so I did. But it’s certainly not a priority right now, I’m excited about it though!

I am also working on an internal Wiki so that I can keep track of all my stories, characters, worlds, arcs, everything really. This is not for the public though. This is mainly so I don’t reuse character names, and so I remember character traits and their stories, and keep my world building in order.

I’ve also been reading more than I’ve ever read in my life. Partially because I actually have free time, and I was also officially diagnosed with ADHD, and just knowing has helped me cope with some of the problems I’ve had when reading.

I haven’t really been playing any games lately, I’ve been favoring reading. I’ve even cut back on movies. 😱 The fact that there’s only 24 hours in a day, I’m supposed to sleep 8 of them, and I have a TBR of 650 books, a TBP of hundreds of games, and just a constant barrage of movies and TV I want to consume, and I first and foremost need to write, is a cruel joke from the universe.
