Progress Updates!

If you’ve followed my occasional “The Morning Arcade” streams, you’d have seen the episode where I discussed my goals for the year. Things are going well, and then some. (Although, I have stopped streaming on a schedule.)

I’m writing lots, I’m currently at around 12,000 words on the novel I started on January 1st, (more on that later). I didn’t write for a few weeks because because I spent almost all of my time one week working on building this website from scratch, and if I wasn’t working on that, I was doing school work. Then I got sick for a week. I didn’t intend to work on any programming projects this year, but… it just kinda happened. I’m happy about it though, and it only took me a week. I was absolutely fed up working with Wordpress and other site builders. I want a simple, functional website that I have full control over. So, that’s what I made.

I even added my personal character name generator, and prompt generator, among other generators to the site, designed with JavaScript specifically to work on this site. So, feel free to use those as needed. You can go to “Other” on the navigation bar, and select from the generators there, or just click on one of these:
Fantasy Word Generator
Character Name Generator
Writing Prompt Generator
Story Details Generator
Gimme Some Words!

Now that this website is set up and good to go, I’m be back to writing this week as normal. I have also begun working on some music. I have large plans for music, but I’m not going to talk about them yet… just in case I can’t follow through. But here is an image of my bed (awkward), along with my guitars and pedalboard which I am very happy with. (Photobomb: Zuko's shaved belly.)

I’ve been preparing a few short stories to be published on this site, as well as a handful of poems, so keep an eye out for those over the next few months. Poems will come over the next couple weeks, and short stories after that! Follow my socials, and subscribe on YouTube (and turn on notifications) to keep up to date! I’ve also been submitting other short stories for publication in magazines, so cross those fingies for me.

The first short story that will be posted is called Beware the Blessed Memories (which I also wrote as a short film), in which a young Dani wakes up one morning expecting to ride out the week until they can confess their love to their longtime best friend, but instead they find that they have awakened the previous morning, and after each sleep, the calendar continues to roll backward.

The second story is called The Last Orgy of Orbit Horne. This is a weird one, but stick with me here: It is time for Orbit Horne's annual polycule orgy, wherein most of their lovers come together, if you know what I mean. However, as the day rolls on, Orbit can't help but feel that something is amiss. This story is tremendously explicit, and I wouldn't scoff at people calling it pornographic. It is. This is on purpose. I think it may confuse a lot of people, so maybe someday I will explain the point of the story. I think it would be a fun one to break down piece by piece. But I would like to see honest reactions from people first.

The third story is called Life || Choice and is about young Friday who finds themself pregnant, despite proper condom use. Upon visiting a clinic that is being protested, they become plagued by nightmares of a couple wishing to adopt their baby.

I am aiming to have these stories posted in April!

On YouTube I've also started my Creating Fantasy Languages for Beginners free YouTube course. The first video explains everything about it, but to sum it up, it is a course designed for people who think that creating a fantasy language is beyond them, it's too much. I lead you through the process and prove you can do it, and it's actually not that hard to get started.

I'm no longer streaming on Wednesdays and Fridays, but will be streaming at random times whenever I feel like it (on Twitch and YouTube), so hit the bell on YouTube to be notified of when I go live. Having a stream schedule wasn't working with my chaotic ADHD brain, unfortunately. Currently I'm streaming my Terraria: Do Everything Run, where I play through regular, Expert, Master, and Legendary modes, and hopefully by the time I get through Legendary, the new 1.4.5 update will be out. In the new update, the next step of my Do Everything Run is to spend a whole year in one world and do as much as I possibly can in that world. I will even be building an in-game museum for every single item in the game, (there are over 5000😅).
I'm also just starting Final Fantasy 7 (the original) for the very first time. It's a blind playthrough. The first stream was a little embarassing. lmao

I have a newsletter on Substack, so you can Subscribe Here! Be the first to hear about upcoming projects, from stories, to music, to games! I will have a new edition on the first monday of each month. (This article is actually the same as this months newsletter, it won't normally be like that.) Now, the novel in progress:
What would you do if your most obsessed fan turned out to be the most prolific living serial killer never caught? What if they demand that you write their life story, or they’ll kill the people you love. What if they’ve proven they’re close enough to follow through? Would you share the obsession in return?
Struggling horror author Opal Winter receives a wretched scrapbook from an invisible yet infamous fan, and her world turns to fear and obsession.

Lastly, below are a few excerpts from the novel, but keep in mind that this is still in first draft mode, so these excerpts may not even end up in the final version, or may end up being different.

Don’t forget to drink some water, and eat something tasty.
Take care of yourself.

Your pal,
Cade 💕
